NCAA Council Backs Some Changes in Amateurism Rules, Defers Others
By WELCH SUGGSCollege athletes would be allowed to give lessons for pay, receive free disability insurance, get loans of up to $20,000, and accept prize money for Olympic medals, under proposed rule changes approved this month by a top governing board of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
