Mount Holyoke and Its Alumnae Association

To the Editor:

Much of Kit Lively's article "A Messy Fight Over Money Divides Mount Holyoke" (May 25) appears to be accurate. However, it is a measure of the general lack of understanding of the culture of women's colleges that she sought comments chiefly from men, and those at universities.

No self-respecting alumna of a women's college would imagine that a male from Stanford, Duke, or Princeton -- or a female president who had never been associated with a women's college
