The bad publicity for Texas Southern University and its president, Priscilla D. Slade, worsened today, when the Houston Chronicle reported that she had charged the college for thousands of dollars in exercise classes, golf lessons, gifts to employees and regents, and a move to a new house. Ms. Slade, whose spending on the furnishing and landscaping of that home were already under investigation, was put on leave last month (The Chronicle, March 17). The new information was obtained by the Houston Chronicle under an open-records request.
