More Research Wanted on Pancreatic Cancer

To the Editor:

I wholeheartedly applaud and am touched by Randy Pausch of Carnegie Mellon University ("After His Last Lecture, a Computer Scientist Contemplates His Final Months," The Chronicle, October 12). I have seen his lecture on YouTube and know that thousands of others (academics and laypeople alike) will also see his inspiring speech.

However, I hope that Randy will soon begin to use his fame to talk specifically about pancreatic cancer in order to draw some much-needed
