Although very informative, your article on faculty salaries could have been made more thorough and exhaustive by adding a few new categories ("Faculty Salaries Are Up 3.6%, Double the Rate of Inflation," April 23). First, rank and type of institution are not the only predictors of salary: A subdivision into humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences would reveal that, in fact, very few
