More Colleges Offer Part-Time Options for Professors
Sophie Volpp remembers one morning five years ago when her son was just a toddler and she was working furiously toward tenure at the University of California at Berkeley. The young professor had been up late after returning from an academic conference the night before, and by the time her son woke up that morning she was working again at home.
"He looked up at me and said: 'Why don't you go back to your office, Mom, because I don't have time to play with you.'"
