Montana Supreme Court Overturns Tax Measure That Concerned Colleges

The Montana Supreme Court last week overturned an amendment to the state Constitution that threatened to stifle the growth of public colleges and other agencies.

Constitutional Initiative 75, narrowly passed by Montana voters in November, required state lawmakers to seek voter approval in adopting or increasing any state tax or fee.

Proponents of the measure promoted it as a way to control government
