Montana Colleges Must Offer Health Benefits to Gay Couples
Montana's public-university system must extend the same health benefits to gay couples as it does to heterosexual couples, the State Supreme Court has ruled, declaring that to do otherwise would violate the state constitution's equal-protection clause.
The 4-3 decision in late December overturned both university policy and a lower court's decision to uphold that policy.
