PATENT RESEARCH A survey, released last week by an arm of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, found that by a 2-to-1 ratio, industry scientists reported having more problems gaining access to patented technologies than did academic scientists. Some academic scientists have feared that patenting of research may inhibit the exchange of scientific information. A copy of the survey is available online (http://sippi.aaas.org/survey).
