Misunderstanding Both Affirmative Action and Who Benefits From Racism
To the Editor:
John D. Skrentny is right that affirmative action is often misunderstood and in need of clarification ("Affirmative Action and New Demographic Realities," The Review, February 16). Unfortunately, that's not what he provides. I'll try to correct a few of his errors.
While it's true that most discussion before passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 centered on discrimination against African-Americans, reading Mr. Skrentny's essay would hardly prepare a reader for
