Minority Students Make Gains in Higher Education
The number of minority students enrolled in American colleges rose significantly over the past decade, according to an annual report released this month by the American Council on Education. From 1991 to 2001, African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American, and American Indian enrollments increased by 51.7 percent, to more than 4.3 million students.
But minority students still lag behind their white peers in other key categories, like the percentage who go on to college after high school,
