Miniature Golf Course Gives Way to Dorm at U. of Maryland

A 43-year-old bit of local color has faded out near the University of Maryland.

Monte Miniature Golf closed last month to make way for a 704-bed dormitory near the College Park campus. George Cathcart, a university spokesman, says the apartments will ease a housing crunch that forced hundreds of students to live in hotels last fall.
