Mideast War Closes Colleges in Lebanon and Israel
U.S. scholars and students flee bombings and rocket fire in Beirut and Haifa
As Israeli bombs rained down on Beirut last week, Lebanese universities shuttered their campuses, and foreign scholars and students fled the country aboard ships, trucks, and buses.
Fighting between Israel and the Lebanese militant Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah threatened Israeli campuses as well. Following dozens of Hezbollah missile attacks on Haifa, two universities shut down, moving foreign students
