Michigan to Spend Its Tobacco Money on Biotechnology Research
Michigan will give four research institutions $1-billion over the next 20 years from its share of a tobacco-lawsuit settlement to study biotechnology, under legislation signed last month by Republican Gov. John Engler.
Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, and the Van Andel Institute, plan to create a "life-science corridor" through the southern part of the state,
