Michigan Universities Oversee Many Charter Schools
Michigan's public universities are involved in the most charter schools, by far, among colleges nationwide. Eight of the state's 13 universities now oversee nearly 90 per cent of the state's 173 charter schools, under a 1993 state law giving them that authority. And their role has drawn controversy.
