Mesa State Selects Controversial Leader

After a selection process marred by discord, Mesa State College has picked as its next president the executive director of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, the state's coordinating board.

The college's Board of Trustees unanimously offered the job to Timothy E. Foster, a former Republican state lawmaker who made waves among many college officials after he took over at the commission, in 1999.
