Mental-Health Care for Students
To the Editor:
Why should colleges provide limited mental-health services to students ("More Help for Troubled Students," December 5)? Because providing such services benefits colleges as well as students. Empirical evidence indicates that students who utilize campus counseling services are retained at a higher rate than students who don't. Various explanations for this correlation have been proposed.
