Medical Society Affirms Journal's Independence
The medical society that owns The New England Journal of Medicine has affirmed the editor's control over the journal's content and the use of its name.
The Massachusetts Medical Society last month ousted the journal's editor, Jerome P. Kassirer, because of his objections to how the society was using the journal's name to market other products (The Chronicle, August 6).
