Medical Schools Draft Guidelines for Preventing Conflicts of Interest

Researchers who have a financial stake in companies sponsoring their clinical trials would be required to notify campus officials under guidelines proposed by a group of leading medical educators.

The group, convened last year by Joseph B. Martin, dean of the Harvard Medical School, has forwarded its recommendations to the Association of American Medical Colleges, which is expected to take up the issue this spring.
