The figures are based on the reports from 1,145 public and private colleges and universities. The figures are meant to provide a broad overview of midlevel salaries in higher education. A dash indicates insufficient data. Doctoral institutions are characterized by a significant level and breadth of activity in doctoral-level education; master's institutions have diverse postbaccalaureate programs but are not engaged in significant doctoral-level education; baccalaureate colleges have primary emphasis on bachelor's-level education; two-year institutions confer mostly associate degrees.

How is it that there are counseling psychologists with 2-year degrees, and how are they making $10,000 per year more than those with master's degrees?

The All Doctoral Master's Baccalaureate 2-year refers to the type of college they survied, not the degree the employee has.
