Median Salaries of Midlevel Administrative Workers by Job Category and Type of Institution, 2005-6

The median salary for midlevel administrative workers in higher education rose 3.3 percent in the 2005-6 academic year, according to an annual survey released this week by the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.

The increase in pay for the midlevel positions, which include police officers, staff attorneys, and reference librarians, was just slightly greater than in the 2004-5 academic year, when the median salary was up 3 percent. Salary data for the
