Measure Reinforces Immigrant-Tuition Law
Public colleges in states that allow their resident illegal immigrants to pay cheaper in-state tuition rates would be barred from receiving substantial federal aid under an amendment adopted last week by the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee.
The amendment, which was approved by a 40-to-21 vote during debate on an appropriations bill for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education in the 2007 fiscal year, was offered by Rep. John Abney
