Mayor Asks That CUNY Outsource Remediation
New York City's mayor, Rudolph W. Giuliani, has proposed a budget for the 2002 fiscal year that would require the City University of New York to hire a private company to provide remedial education for at least 1,000 students. The mayor, a Republican, said such a move would help the institution improve its academic quality.
