Massachusetts' New Governor Wants to End Restrictions on Stem-Cell Research
Gov. Deval L. Patrick of Massachusetts is seeking to roll back restrictions on stem-cell research imposed by his predecessor, Mitt Romney, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.
Massachusetts law prohibits the creation of embryos for research purposes, and regulations adopted under Mr. Romney bar researchers from accepting embryonic stem cells from laboratories in states with laws that are less restrictive.
