Massachusetts Board Agrees to Revive College's Nursing Program

The Massachusetts nursing board said today that Massachusetts Bay Community College can admit nursing students once again starting next spring.

The state’s Board of Registration in Nursing had barred the college from admitting new students to its popular nursing program until it hired more qualified staff members. The board lifted that ban today, after the college said it would hire a new dean for health sciences, a director for nursing, and several new nursing faculty members.

The college’s faculty members recently voted no confidence in the campus’s president, in part because of the problems with the nursing program. —Elyse Ashburn
