Maryland Regents Strengthen Review of Presidential Contracts
Upset over having to give a hefty severance package to the former president of Towson University, the University System of Maryland's Board of Regents is beefing up its policy on approving presidential contracts.
Mark L. Perkins got an exit package worth about $400,000 when he was forced to resign in April after only eight months on the job at Towson, according to system officials. The board had become dissatisfied with him after questions arose about nearly $1-million in renovations
