Before joining The Chronicle of Higher Education in 2009, Parry covered higher education and religion for the Albany Times Union in upstate New York (2005-9) and worked as a reporter at The Cape Cod Times (2003-5). His articles have also appeared in Newsday, The Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, National Catholic Reporter, San Jose Mercury News, Boulder Daily Camera, and The Toronto Star.

Parry earned a master’s degree in 2003 from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s in comparative literature in 1999 from the University of Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and tennis. He lives in Washington, D.C.

Media appearances: Parry has appeared as a guest on NPR’s Talk of the Nation and has been interviewed many times on WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which serves parts of seven northeastern states.
