Before joining The Chronicle of Higher Education in 2009, Parry covered higher education and religion for the Albany Times Union in upstate New York (2005-9) and worked as a reporter at The Cape Cod Times (2003-5). His articles have also appeared in Newsday, The Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, National Catholic Reporter, San Jose Mercury News, Boulder Daily Camera, and The Toronto Star.
Parry earned a master’s degree in 2003 from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s in comparative literature in 1999 from the University of Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and tennis. He lives in Washington, D.C.

Media appearances: Parry has appeared as a guest on NPR’s Talk of the Nation and has been interviewed many times on WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which serves parts of seven northeastern states. He has also done television interviews with New England Cable News (NECN) and WBZ-TV, a Boston CBS affiliate.
