Managers of Fast Networks See Growing Need for International Backbone

The managers of high-speed computer networks say the best way to keep up with scientists' research needs is to build an international backbone network capable of handling the fast, large-capacity connections the researchers require.

Participants in an effort to improve international connections announced last week that they have formed a group to build such a high-speed backbone, the Global Terabit Research Network.
