As someone who made his academic reputation a generation ago by pioneering the writing of history from the bottom up, Jesse Lemisch ought to have employed his own research methods before drawing broad conclusions about the more than 400 scholars who signed the advertisement in The New York Times against the current rush to impeachment ("Anti-Impeachment Historians and the Politics of History,"
