Making Social Theory a Snap
The official Lego Web site asserts that the plastic snap-together blocks can "inspire students to use their creativity."
What it doesn't say is that Lego blocks may also help students "understand gender as a relation among socially constituted subjects in specifiable contexts." That's because, until recently, no one had created a Lego figure based on the poststructuralist philosopher Judith Butler.
