Making Music and Making Money
To the Editor:
I could not agree more with the sentiments of Mathias Wexler, who believes that music departments should cultivate students less focused on music as a profession, and more on the art as enrichment ("Teaching Music Students to Make Music for Love, Not for a Living," Opinion, July 28). Setting one's sights on a career in music is not much different from expecting to win the lottery.
