Making Admissions Decisions 'on the Spot'
To the Editor:
The instant decision ... humanizes the process by having the admissions officer review the student's credentials one-on-one ("Instant Gratification," April 12). It offers convenience for the student.
It also offers ... a decision made on the spot with no opportunity for reflection, or any real analysis of the writing samples or letters of recommendation. ...
For good or for bad, it seems to be wanted by the consumer and the marketer.
