Major Growth Planned for Texas Colleges
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved an ambitious plan last month that calls for the state's colleges to add 500,000 students, a 50-percent increase, by 2015.
The plan also calls for the colleges to raise the number of degrees they award annually by 50 percent and to seek an additional $455-million a year in federal research funds.
The plan was developed over the last year by board members, business leaders, and former higher-education
