MLA Moves to Encourage the Use of Full-Time Faculty Members
The Modern Language Association's governing body voted last month to create a system in which the association would give its stamp of approval to departments in which at least half of the credits are taught by tenured or tenure-track professors. The plan was approved after delegates objected to a tougher proposal, which would have barred departments that fell short of the 50-percent standard from all M.L.A. activities, including the job bank.
