Loyola Marymount U. Professor Arrested on Pornography Charges

A tenured biology professor at Loyola Marymount University was arrested last month on charges of possessing and copying child pornography.

Anthony P. Smulders, a 61-year-old member of a Roman Catholic order, the Brothers of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy, was released on $100,000 bail after being booked on two counts of possessing child pornography and 28 counts of duplicating it, said Grace Brady, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
