Louisianans Vote on 2 Referenda Affecting Colleges
Voters in Louisiana approved a measure this month to set aside part of a multibillion-dollar tobacco settlement for a permanent fund to support scholarships. But voters rejected another measure that would have prohibited the Legislature from cutting appropriations below certain levels for public universities in areas where new community colleges have opened.
