Looking Beyond Stereotypes of Jews and Muslims in the Middle East

Neil J. Kressel is right about two things: first, that anti-Semitism is an unalloyed evil wherever it takes root; and second, that findings from studies of European or American anti-Semitism may not tell us much about the phenomenon in the Middle East ("The Urgent Need to Study Islamic Anti-Semitism," The Chronicle Review, March 12).
Anti-Semitism in Europe was built upon the political manipulation of Jewish communities and upon grotesque and baseless fantasies
