William J. Aceves is certainly a patient professor. A faculty member and director of the International Legal Studies Program at the California Western School of Law, he is listed by the National Security Archive as having the oldest pending request filed under the federal Freedom of Information Act, which was signed into law 40 years ago last month.

The nonprofit archive, which collects declassified government documents, is part of George Washington University.
