Your article "The Fragmentation of Literary Theory" (The Chronicle, December 16) mentions interviews with faculty members at, and studies of syllabi from, 20 elite English departments. ...
A better way to measure theory's fragmentation or institutionalization would be to research the extent to which these issues are now being regularly debated and disseminated at the more lowly state universities, where many of us who attended those elite programs in the 1980s are
