'Lion and Zookeeper': a Study in Disavowal
Most Americans enjoy eating meat, but at the same time we become uncomfortable when contemplating images of the slaughterhouse. In "Lion and Zookeeper," a Saturday Evening Post cover, Rockwell captures this form of disavowal.
