The Lilly Endowment has provided a five-year, $17.5-million grant to the American Indian College Fund, a Denver-based organization that gives scholarships to 5,000 American Indian students every year. Besides scholarships, the funds will be used to strengthen academic programs at tribal colleges, bolster the recruitment and retention of their faculty and staff members, and develop honors and leadership-developments programs for them.
