Terrorism in Colombia harms wildlife and the scientists who study it

Orlando Rangel's brown eyes fill with tears as he recalls the most disturbing experience of his life. He and a team of researchers had traveled from Colombia's capital to one of its war-torn provinces last year in what was supposed to be a two-week trip to document plant and animal life. But two days after the team had set up camp, some 15 leftist guerrillas appeared out of the forest armed with AK-47s.
