The reputation of Cornell University's Laboratory of Ornithology is not all that's on the line in a new debate over the purported rediscovery of the ivory-billed woodpecker.
An Ohio toy maker that licenses authentic bird sounds from the lab for its line of fluffy stuffed birds has a stake in the outcome as well: K&M International has already begun producing a plush version of the ballyhooed ivory bill and expects to start shipping its first batch this month.
