Librarians at Cornell and Yale Aid Hospitals in Developing Nations
Hospitals in developing nations don't have access to up-to-date scientific information, so journal publishers, two major universities, the United Nations, and Microsoft are building a bridge across that digital divide.
The urologist Mahomed Jalloh told an audience at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington last week that his hospital in Dakar, Senegal, had few journals. And so the staff could not learn about the latest treatments for blindness, tuberculosis, or HIV.
