Letting Coaches Have a Life

Dena Evans's account of her remarkably successful but unfortunately short stint as a head coach of an NCAA Division I team was eloquent, honest, and moving ("Going the Distance and Keeping the Pace," The Chronicle Review, June 30). Importantly, the essay also reflects the dilemmas and struggles faced by countless female coaches as they desperately attempt to find an appropriate balance between unyielding coaching demands and equally challenging family responsibilities,
