Archaeology, like most scholarly disciplines, has changed tremendously during the last few decades. Computers and countless other technological advances have helped expand our research horizons and given us much more profound answers to our questions about the human past. Even more important for American archaeologists, however, is the growing amount of archaeological material and data collected at the behest of the federal government since the passage of the National Historic Preservation
