Let Athletes Major in Sports

To the Editor:

In regard to Jesse Ventura's proposal that college athletes not be required to attend classes, it seems that something of this sort might be just what's needed to overturn the long-standing hypocrisy of college sports (Sidelines, April 9). If we are going to offer generous scholarships to student athletes, and emphasize the quality of a college's sports program as a prime motivator in alumni
