Less Passion in Politics
To the Editor:
As a libertarian who has equal disdain for liberal and conservative statism, I read with amusement Michael P. Lynch's "Where Is Liberal Passion?" (The Chronicle Review, April 22). We have just been through an election campaign that was utterly drenched in passion from both of the main political factions. To me, the notion that the liberals were defeated because they weren't passionate enough is most unpersuasive.
