Leo Strauss, Judaism, and Liberalism
In recent years, the political philosopher Leo Strauss (1899-1973) has been in the news, if not always for the right reasons. Three years ago, in view of the vast number of his disciples occupying positions of influence in Washington in general and the Department of Defense in particular, Strauss came under fire for having inspired a Bush-administration foreign-policy cabal leading directly to the Iraq war.
