Lenders Say Survey Was Unscientific and Imprecise
To the Editor:
The Chronicle should have consulted Mark Twain — who famously said "the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" — before publishing "Direct Lending Could Overtake Bank-Based Loans" (November 7).
The survey results cited in the article do not support the article's headline and supposition. For one thing, the bank-based Federal Family Education Loan Program's share of postsecondary institutions is 75 percent (4,274), according to the
